Hyderabad: Fernandez Hospital has expanded its continuum of child healthcare with the launch of Little Fernz, a dedicated paediatric inpatient service designed to provide specialised medical care for children requiring short hospital stays, close observation and timely treatment.

The new service has been introduced across the hospital’s Banjara Hills (Stork Home), Bogulkunta and Hyderguda facilities, extending Fernandez Hospital’s long-standing expertise in maternal and newborn care into paediatric inpatient services.

For more than seven decades, the hospital has been associated with maternity, childbirth and neonatal care. With Little Fernz, it aims to offer families a comprehensive care pathway that continues beyond birth into early childhood.

The facility has been designed around a family-centred care model, combining specialist paediatric care with child-friendly healing spaces and mother-friendly rooms that allow parents to remain with their children throughout hospitalisation.

According to the hospital, the service is intended for children requiring short-term admission for conditions such as fever-related illnesses, gastroenteritis and dehydration, bronchiolitis, asthma exacerbations, febrile seizures, mild pneumonia and infants who need closer medical observation.

The inpatient unit is staffed by experienced paediatricians, dedicated nursing teams and round-the-clock clinical monitoring to ensure timely medical intervention while providing emotional reassurance to families.

Speaking on the launch, Dr Sunil Pawar, Head of Neonatology and Paediatrics at Fernandez Hospital, said timely treatment and continuous observation often make a significant difference when children require hospital care.

“Little Fernz brings together experienced paediatricians, dedicated nursing care and a family-centred environment where children receive expert care while parents remain close throughout their recovery,” he said.

Sharing the vision behind the initiative, Dr Evita Fernandez said the hospital is building upon the trust it has earned from generations of families by extending its care into children’s growing years.

“For over seven decades, families have trusted Fernandez during some of life’s most precious beginnings. With Little Fernz, we are extending that trust beyond birth into childhood. We understand how overwhelming it can be when a child is unwell, and our goal is to create a space where children receive expert care while families feel supported, reassured and remain close to their loved ones,” she said.

A key feature of the new service is its emphasis on family participation during recovery, with dedicated mother-friendly accommodation, child-focused nursing care, calm healing environments and continuous paediatric supervision.

With the launch of Little Fernz, Fernandez Hospital further strengthens its paediatric care portfolio while responding to the growing demand for specialised, family-oriented healthcare services for children in Hyderabad.
