Bengaluru, September 15: Databricks, the global Data and AI company, has named Kamalkanth Tummala as its new Country Manager for India, tasking him with leading the firm’s next phase of growth in one of its most strategic markets. The appointment comes as Databricks advances a US$250 million investment in India across training, research and development, and go-to-market operations.

Tummala, who brings over 20 years of enterprise technology leadership, joins from Salesforce where he served as Vice President, spearheading go-to-market strategies across multiple industries. He previously spent nearly a decade at MindTree, helping expand strategic accounts as Regional Director.

“India is one of our most dynamic growth markets, and Kamal’s expertise will help us scale faster and deepen partnerships with leading enterprises,” said Ed Lenta, SVP & GM, Asia Pacific & Japan at Databricks. He noted that top Indian organizations including HDFC Bank, Swiggy, Freshworks, TVS Motors, Zepto, and CommerceIQ already leverage Databricks’ platform to innovate with data and AI.

Tummala said he was excited to take the helm at a pivotal moment: “In India’s dynamic landscape, data and AI are reshaping every organization. Databricks is uniquely positioned to help enterprises build a lasting competitive advantage, and I look forward to accelerating our customers’ AI journeys.”

The company has rapidly expanded in India with a growing headcount, a new 105,000 sq. ft. R&D office in Bengaluru, and the launch of its India Data + AI Academy. It will also host its flagship Data + AI World Tour Mumbai on September 19, bringing together thought leaders, customers, and partners to showcase cutting-edge AI innovations.

Databricks, valued at over $100 billion following its Series K investment, powers more than 20,000 organizations worldwide, including over 60% of the Fortune 500.
