Anugraha Narayana Das Assumes Charge as Controller General of Defence Accounts
Seasoned IDAS officer brings 30+ years of defence financial expertise to top post
A 1991-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Das brings over three decades of experience in defence financial management and public administration.

New Delhi: Anugraha Narayana Das has assumed charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) with effect from May 1, 2026, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.
A 1991-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Das brings over three decades of experience in defence financial management and public administration. Over the course of his career, he has contributed to key areas including procurement policy, audit frameworks, budgeting, and expenditure oversight.
Das is an alumnus of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, where he pursued studies at the International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE). He has also undergone advanced training at premier institutions such as Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Duke University.
During his career, he has held several key positions across the defence and civil administration ecosystem. His previous roles include Director in the Ministry of Water Resources, Additional Financial Adviser and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Principal Integrated Financial Adviser at Army Headquarters, and Special Controller General of Defence Accounts at CGDA Headquarters.
His appointment comes at a time when defence financial systems are undergoing increasing digitisation and reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and fiscal discipline.

The Controller General of Defence Accounts heads the Defence Accounts Department, which is responsible for payment, accounting, internal audit, and financial advice for the Indian Armed Forces and associated organisations.
