Unicommerce’s Shipway Launches ‘Shipway Cargo’ to Power Quick Commerce and B2B Logistics
Kapil Makhija, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unicommerce, said B2B shipping has become a critical but often invisible driver of India’s retail growth.
New Delhi: Shipway, the logistics technology arm of Unicommerce eSolutions, has launched Shipway Cargo, a SaaS solution designed to address the growing logistics needs of quick commerce and high-frequency B2B supply chains.
The launch marks Shipway’s strategic expansion beyond parcel logistics into the fast-growing B2B segment, catering to use cases such as dark-store replenishment, distributor supplies, inventory transfers, and movement of heavy and bulky goods—areas where slab-based parcel shipping often proves inefficient and cost-intensive.
Built for high-frequency B2B workflows
Shipway Cargo is designed to support structured, technology-enabled B2B shipments that are becoming central to inventory-intensive business models, particularly quick commerce, which depends on predictable and rapid replenishment cycles.
The platform enables a wide range of workflows, including warehouse-to-warehouse movement and bulky last-mile deliveries. A dedicated dashboard allows sellers to manage B2B shipments separately from parcel operations, offering features such as slot-based delivery scheduling and access to specialised courier partners. Early adopters include D2C brands, manufacturers, and B2B sellers with complex logistics requirements.
Industry context and growth outlook
Kapil Makhija, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Unicommerce, said B2B shipping has become a critical but often invisible driver of India’s retail growth. He noted that as retailers expand across general trade, modern trade, quick commerce, and omnichannel formats, efficient inventory movement behind the scenes is increasingly vital.
He added that quick commerce and other high-frequency B2B logistics require distinct workflows, service partners, and operational expectations that go beyond traditional parcel shipping, and that Shipway Cargo has been built specifically to address these needs.
The launch comes as India’s e-commerce logistics market continues to expand, with industry estimates projecting growth from USD 7.25 billion in 2026 to USD 11.14 billion by 2031. This growth is being driven by increased automation, real-time visibility, and the adoption of connected logistics platforms that are reshaping B2B shipping at scale.
