Healthium Medtech has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Paramount Surgimed Ltd, one of India’s largest manufacturers and exporters of surgical blades, scalpels and dermal biopsy products, strengthening its presence in the high-precision surgical consumables segment.
New Delhi, December 16: Healthium Medtech has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Paramount Surgimed Ltd, one of India’s largest manufacturers and exporters of surgical blades, scalpels and dermal biopsy products, strengthening its presence in the high-precision surgical consumables segment.
As part of the transaction, Paramount’s non-surgical businesses, including its lifestyle and hygiene segments, will be carved out prior to completion and retained by the Grover family. The acquisition will allow Healthium to expand its specialised surgical consumables portfolio while leveraging Paramount’s manufacturing scale and global export footprint.
Paramount brings more than three decades of manufacturing expertise and generates over 95% of its revenue from exports. The company serves more than 300 OEM and branded customers across over 100 countries and manufactures over 250 million devices annually. Its portfolio holds key international regulatory approvals, including EU MDR and USFDA registrations.
Healthium said the acquisition creates strong strategic synergies, enabling it to broaden its product offerings while accelerating global commercial expansion, shared research and development, and innovation in differentiated surgical technologies.
“This acquisition enhances our global surgical consumables business and aligns with our strategy of delivering high-precision technology to healthcare professionals worldwide,” said Anish Bafna, chief executive officer and managing director, Healthium Medtech. He said the focus will be on smooth integration while strengthening service reliability and global supply capabilities.
Shaily Grover, managing director of Paramount Surgimed, said the partnership marks the next phase of growth for the company’s surgical disposables business. “Healthium’s operational expertise and global reach make it an ideal partner. Paramount has always stood for precision, quality and trust, and we are confident the brand will scale significantly with Healthium,” she said.
Daksh Grover, director at Paramount Surgimed, said the partnership offers an opportunity to combine portfolios and global capabilities to redefine the surgical consumables landscape and drive faster growth across international markets.
The acquisition underscores Healthium’s broader strategy to strengthen India’s medtech manufacturing ecosystem and expand access to globally benchmarked medical devices. Healthium is India’s largest independent medical device company and the world’s largest non-captive manufacturer of surgical needles, with products used in one in five surgeries globally.
Paramount Surgimed operates a 10,000 sq. metre manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, with advanced clean-room infrastructure and global certifications. Following the transaction, the company will continue to focus exclusively on its surgical devices business under Healthium’s ownership.
