C-DOT partners with NAM InfoCom to co-develop indigenous Mission Critical Communication (MCX) system
The partnership is part of C-DOT’s MCX Alliance, under which the organisation has engaged 10 companies—primarily startups—to co-develop the MCX ecosystem in the country.
Collaboration under MCX Alliance strengthens India’s Atmanirbhar push in public safety communications; MC Video solution to enhance PPDR, law enforcement, and disaster response networks.
New Delhi, November 14: The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has signed an agreement with NAM InfoCom for the joint development of a Mission Critical Communication System (MCX) solution, marking a significant step toward building India’s indigenous, secure, and real-time communication capabilities for public safety and emergency response.
The partnership is part of C-DOT’s MCX Alliance, under which the organisation has engaged 10 companies—primarily startups—to co-develop the MCX ecosystem in the country. The collaboration aims to deliver a fully indigenous, 3GPP-compliant MCX platform that supports Mission Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT), Mission Critical Data (MCData), and Mission Critical Video (MCVideo) services across existing 4G and 5G networks.
Strengthening India’s mission-critical communication backbone
The upcoming MCX solution is designed to offer secure, high-quality, low-latency, real-time audio and video communication for Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) agencies. It will equip police forces, disaster management teams, defence units, and emergency responders with advanced tools for coordination during high-pressure situations.
As part of the collaboration, NAM InfoCom will develop the MC Video module, which will integrate seamlessly with C-DOT’s existing MCX system. The upgraded solution will support multi-stream capabilities, recording features, and scalable group and one-to-one video calls, with or without floor control. The technology will also function effectively across diverse network conditions and device environments while maintaining low bandwidth and minimal storage requirements.
C-DOT will contribute its R&D expertise, system design capabilities, and funding support through the C-DOT Collaborative Research Programme (CCRP). NAM InfoCom will bring its strengths in system integration, deployment, and customisation to suit operational needs across sectors.
“Promoting indigenous collaborative innovation”
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, said the collaboration aligns with the national vision of technological self-reliance.
“Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, C-DOT aims to promote indigenous collaborative technology development through startups. This initiative strengthens India’s ability to deliver secure, reliable, real-time communication solutions for first responders and public safety organisations,” he noted.
The agreement was signed in the presence of D. Arunan, Director, NAM InfoCom; Shikha Srivastava, Executive Vice President, C-DOT; along with senior officials from both organisations.
