Port Blair, September 21: The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), India’s only operational joint services command, has further cemented its reputation as a strategic think tank and operational hub by successfully hosting the third edition of the Dweep Diksha Dialogue on September 19–20 at Sri Vijaya Puram in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Held under the theme “Evolution of ANC as a Strategic Hub and Beyond”, the forum brought together senior defence leaders, diplomats, veterans, academics, and media representatives to examine India’s maritime posture and security priorities in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, ANC Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen Dinesh Singh Rana, and Lieutenant Governor Admiral DK Joshi addressed the gathering, which also featured eminent figures such as former Navy Chief and first CINCAN Admiral Arun Prakash (Retd), former CINCAN Lt Gen Ajai Singh (Retd), Rear Admiral Monty Khanna (Retd), Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (Strategic) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, and Vice Admiral Anil Chawla (Retd).

Driving Strategic Discourse in the Indo-Pacific

Discussions spanned a wide spectrum of themes including future-ready operational concepts, cognitive and cyber warfare, strategic signalling, and India’s emergence as a preferred regional security partner. The dialogue also explored multi-domain warfare and grey-zone strategies, highlighting how ANC’s unique geography and joint-service structure can shape India’s Indo-Pacific engagement.

Beyond immediate operational issues, participants underscored the ANC’s role in long-term strategic thinking, military education, and joint experimentation, positioning the command as a cornerstone of India’s maritime security architecture.

From Outpost to Intellectual Hub

Launched in 2023, the Dweep Diksha Dialogue has grown into a premier strategic forum that reflects ANC’s transformation from a remote outpost into a decisive anchor for India’s defence planning and maritime strategy. By blending operational expertise with intellectual exchange, the Dialogue is helping to define India’s trajectory as a major Indo-Pacific power.
