PM Matru Vandana Yojana: Special Registration Drive Extended Till August 15; Over 4 Crore Women Benefited So Far

New Delhi, August 4: The Ministry of Women and Child Development has announced the extension of the special registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) till August 15, 2025, with the goal of enhancing outreach to all eligible pregnant and lactating women across the country. The drive is being conducted through a door-to-door campaign led by Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
PMMVY, a centrally sponsored scheme under the ‘Samarthya’ sub-scheme of Mission Shakti, provides cash incentives to support maternal health, nutrition, and rest during pregnancy and post-delivery periods. It also aims to promote a positive attitude towards the girl child and improve health-seeking behaviours among Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM).
Since its inception, the scheme has benefited over 4.05 crore women, with ₹19,028 crore disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into Aadhaar-seeded bank or post office accounts as of July 31, 2025.
Scheme Benefits
- ₹5,000 provided in two instalments for the first child as partial wage compensation.
- ₹6,000 provided in one instalment post-birth of the second girl child, as per the revised Mission Shakti guidelines.
Digital Reforms and PMMVYSoft
The scheme is implemented via PMMVYSoft, a digital platform introduced in March 2023, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and seamless delivery:
- Aadhaar-based authentication through UIDAI
- NPCI verification for accurate DBT transfers
- Facial Recognition System (FRS) for biometric authentication
- Integrated Grievance Module for redressal
- Toll-free multilingual helpline (14408)
- Due-list feature to identify potential beneficiaries
The Ministry urged eligible women to enroll at the earliest and avail the scheme’s benefits. The extended drive aligns with the government’s broader goal of achieving better maternal and child health outcomes across all states and Union Territories.
