PM Modi Hails Operation Sindoor and India’s Global Rise as Monsoon Session 2025 Opens

New Delhi, July 21, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Monday with a powerful address, describing the session as a celebration of national victories and collective achievements. From military success in Operation Sindoor to India’s emerging global digital and economic standing, the Prime Minister underscored the country’s growing strength and unity.
“The Monsoon Session stands as a proud moment for the nation,” said the Prime Minister, calling it a celebration of the spirit of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). Highlighting the significance of this year’s rainfall, he noted that water reservoir levels had tripled compared to the average of the last ten years, offering a boost to agriculture and the overall economy.
Operation Sindoor: A Message to the World
Describing it as a turning point in India’s counter-terror strategy, Modi spotlighted Operation Sindoor—an anti-terror military strike that neutralized high-value targets within 22 minutes. “This mission demonstrated the precision, readiness, and strength of our armed forces,” he said. “It has captured global attention, especially for our ‘Made in India’ defence capabilities.”
He emphasized that India’s defence exports and indigenous military production are gaining interest from global leaders, and said that parliamentary unity during this session would send a strong message of national resolve.
From Red Corridor to Green Growth
The Prime Minister drew attention to India’s significant progress in internal security. “The areas once known as Red Corridors are now becoming Green Growth Zones,” he said, referring to the decline of Naxalism and Maoism. “The Constitution now prevails over bombs and guns.”
He said security forces were steadily working to eliminate the remnants of left-wing extremism and restoring development and governance in affected regions.
Pahalgam Massacre and Global Unity Against Terrorism
Referring to the recent massacre in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Modi said it shocked the world and put a spotlight on Pakistan’s role in sponsoring terrorism. He lauded the bipartisan efforts of Indian political leaders who launched a coordinated diplomatic campaign that helped expose Pakistan globally.
“I thank all Members of Parliament who stood united in this national cause,” he said.
India’s Economic Rise and Global Recognition
Recalling India’s economic journey since 2014, Modi said the country has risen from being among the “Fragile Five” economies to now being on the threshold of becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
He highlighted the removal of 25 crore people from poverty and pointed out India’s stable inflation at around 2%, which he said had significantly improved ease of living.
Citing recent global recognition, Modi mentioned that over 90 crore Indians are now covered under social security, as noted by the International Labour Organization. He also highlighted the World Health Organization’s declaration of India being free from trachoma, an eye disease common during the monsoon.
UPI: India Leads the Digital Payments Revolution
The Prime Minister praised the global recognition of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), stating that India leads the world in real-time digital transactions. “Digital India is no longer a vision—it’s a global benchmark,” he said.
A Call for Unity in National Interest
While acknowledging political diversity, Modi urged Members of Parliament to rise above party lines when it comes to national interest. “There may be differences in ideology, but there must be harmony in intent,” he said.
He expressed hope that the Monsoon Session would witness constructive debates and the passage of legislation that strengthens the country’s development and empowers citizens.
“This is a moment to reflect, unite, and move forward with strength. Let this session echo the voice of a victorious and self-confident India,” the Prime Minister concluded.
