QR678 secures new Indian patent for integrated hair regeneration kit

HYDERABAD: QR678, an Indian hair regeneration research and product platform, has secured a new Indian patent for an integrated hair growth system combining a shampoo, hair growth serum and nutraceutical supplements.

The patent, titled “Kit for Promoting Hair Growth”, was granted by the Indian Patent Office on July 24, 2026, to Dr. Rinky Kapoor and Dr. Debraj Shome, Clinician Scientists and Research Mentors at QR678.

The latest intellectual property milestone adds to a research and product development programme that has its roots in India, including Hyderabad, and has expanded into international markets.

Dr Debraj Shome’s research journey in hair restoration began in part during his tenure as Head of Aesthetic Surgery at Apollo Hyderabad. The experience subsequently contributed to a broader programme spanning intellectual property, clinical research, product development and international expansion.

QR678 said its platform now has more than 22 published research papers and a presence across more than 20 countries, with over 5,000 doctors using its products. More than 150,000 patients have been treated using QR678-driven products, according to the company.

The platform’s product portfolio has expanded beyond its original offering to include QR678 NEO, QR678 PREO, QR678 ZEO and QR678 XPRO. The company is also developing additional medical devices and pursuing drug development programmes through appropriate regulatory pathways.

The latest patent follows earlier intellectual property milestones, including QR678’s first US patent for hair growth in 2017 and its first Indian patent in 2019.

The company also cited clinical evidence from a multicentric study led by Prof. René R. W. J. van der Hulst of the Netherlands involving 300 patients with early-stage hair loss. The six-month study evaluated QR678 Suite, QR678 NEO and their combination in both men and women.

According to the company, the study reported improvements in hair growth, hair quality and scalp health across the treatment groups. The combination of QR678 NEO and QR678 Suite recorded the strongest reported outcomes, with the Global Hair Growth and Hair Quality Index rising from 7.03 at baseline to 17.8 after treatment. The same combination recorded a Follicular Revival Index increase from approximately 1.1 to 2.2, representing a reported 93.4% improvement.

QR678 has also recorded regulatory milestones in Gulf markets, including approvals in Kuwait and other GCC countries, followed by launches in the European Union and the UK.

Dr. Debraj Shome said the latest patent represented another milestone in a journey that began in India and has expanded into research, intellectual property, clinical validation and international markets. He also highlighted Hyderabad’s role in the development of the platform.

Dr. Rinky Kapoor said the objective was to build a broader platform around hair and scalp biology rather than focus on isolated interventions. She said the development of multiple products, ongoing clinical research, medical devices and drug development programmes reflected the evolution of the platform.

The new patent adds another layer to QR678’s intellectual property portfolio as the platform expands its research, clinical, product and international activities.
