Jabil Opens Advanced Electronics Manufacturing Facility in Pune, to Create Up to 11000 Jobs
New plant to manufacture AI data centre equipment, 5G systems and advanced electronics for domestic and global markets
Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw said Artificial Intelligence has emerged as one of the world's fastest-growing technology sectors, making AI data centres a major growth engine for the global economy.

Pune: In a significant boost to India’s ambitions of becoming a global electronics manufacturing hub, US-based electronics manufacturing giant Jabil has inaugurated its new advanced manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon near Pune. The facility is expected to generate up to 11,000 jobs and strengthen India’s position in the rapidly growing AI and data centre infrastructure ecosystem.
The facility was inaugurated by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on June 17. Senior government officials, industry leaders and Jabil executives were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw said Artificial Intelligence has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing technology sectors, making AI data centres a major growth engine for the global economy. He emphasized that India must develop domestic manufacturing capabilities for the critical electronic components that power these advanced data centres under the Prime Minister’s Make in India vision.
“AI data centres have become a very large growth engine across the world today. It is important that major electronic components powering these facilities are manufactured in India,” the Minister said. He noted that Jabil’s Pune facility will manufacture crucial components required for AI-driven data centres while serving both domestic and export markets.
Focus on AI, 5G and Advanced Electronics
The state-of-the-art facility will manufacture a wide range of advanced technology products, including AI-enabled data centre equipment, 5G systems, high-end networking gear, industrial power electronics and consumer electronics. The plant has been designed as a large-scale manufacturing hub capable of meeting growing domestic demand while supporting exports to global markets.
According to the company and government officials, the project will also drive deep localization of supply chains by integrating Indian MSMEs and component manufacturers into global technology ecosystems.
Electronics Emerging as a Major Export Driver
Highlighting India’s rapid progress in electronics manufacturing, Vaishnaw said the sector has grown into a ₹13 lakh crore industry and has emerged as the country’s third-largest export category. Electronics exports have steadily climbed the rankings over the past several years, reflecting the success of government initiatives aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing and attracting global investments.
The Minister said India is now targeting the next phase of growth by strengthening local supply chains, enhancing manufacturing quality and increasing the value addition of domestically produced electronic components.
Strengthening India’s Global Manufacturing Position
The inauguration of Jabil’s new facility comes at a time when India is witnessing growing investments in electronics, semiconductors, data centre infrastructure and advanced manufacturing technologies. Industry observers view the project as an important step toward positioning India as a trusted global manufacturing partner for next-generation technologies.
The government has reiterated its commitment to supporting talent development, skill creation and specialized manufacturing ecosystems to further accelerate growth in the electronics sector and strengthen India’s role in global technology supply chains.
