New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually addressed the 19th Rozgar Mela and distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth across the country through video conferencing.
The Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 47 locations nationwide as part of the Government of India’s initiative aimed at accelerating employment generation and strengthening citizen-centric governance.
Newly recruited candidates joined several key Ministries and Departments including Railways, ISRO, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Department of Higher Education. More than 50 per cent of the appointments under the 19th Rozgar Mela were linked to the expanding sectors of Indian Railways.
Addressing the newly appointed youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated them and their families, describing the occasion as a major milestone for thousands of households across the country.
He said the newly recruited youth would become responsible partners in India’s development journey and play an important role in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat by 2047”.
The Prime Minister emphasised that government jobs should not merely be viewed as positions of employment but as opportunities to simplify the lives of citizens and contribute meaningfully to national development.
He urged the appointees to follow the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava” and keep citizen welfare at the centre of governance and public service delivery.
Referring to India’s rising global stature, Modi said global leaders and multinational companies are increasingly eager to partner in India’s growth story.
Speaking about his recent visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the UAE and Italy, the Prime Minister said international collaborations and investments in sectors such as semiconductors are creating substantial opportunities for Indian youth and strengthening the country’s innovation ecosystem.
Highlighting India’s startup ecosystem, Modi said the country now has over 23.30 lakh recognised startups, with innovation rapidly expanding across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
He particularly appreciated the contribution of women entrepreneurs and said investments in electronics manufacturing, clean technologies, green hydrogen and infrastructure development are opening new employment avenues and driving regional economic growth.
The Prime Minister also encouraged newly recruited officials to continuously upgrade their skills through platforms such as iGOT Karmayogi to adapt to evolving governance requirements and improve public service delivery.
The programme held in Ahmedabad was attended by Raksha Khadse, Kunwarji Bawalia and Darshana Vaghela along with Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and senior railway and administrative officials.
Interacting with newly appointed candidates, Raksha Khadse said India’s youth constitute the nation’s greatest strength and emphasised the importance of creating opportunities, skills and platforms to unlock their full potential.
She described the Rozgar Mela as not merely a recruitment exercise but an important initiative that connects talented youth with meaningful opportunities while strengthening the link between skills and employment.
Launched in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has facilitated the distribution of lakhs of appointment letters across the country as part of the government’s broader push towards employment generation and youth empowerment.
