Jakarta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Tuesday conferred the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, the highest civilian award of the Republic of Indonesia, by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during a ceremonial event in Jakarta.

The prestigious honour was bestowed in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and his exceptional contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership and longstanding bilateral ties between India and Indonesia.

Accepting the award, the Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the people of both nations and reaffirmed the deep civilizational bonds that have connected India and Indonesia for centuries.

“I dedicate this honour to the people of India and Indonesia and to the enduring civilizational ties between our two countries,” the Prime Minister said after receiving the award.

The conferment reflects the growing momentum in India-Indonesia relations, which have expanded across trade, investment, defence cooperation, maritime security, digital technologies, cultural exchanges, and Indo-Pacific collaboration. As comprehensive strategic partners, the two countries continue to deepen cooperation through high-level political engagement and shared regional priorities.

The Bintang Adipurna is the Republic of Indonesia’s highest civilian decoration and is conferred upon distinguished individuals who have made exceptional contributions to advancing Indonesia’s interests and fostering international friendship.

The honour underscores the importance both countries attach to their multifaceted partnership, rooted in shared democratic values, historical links, and a common vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
