New Delhi: The NXT Conclave 2026 is emerging as an important platform for global policy discussions, innovation, and international cooperation, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said on Friday while interacting with a delegation of foreign parliamentarians and thought leaders at Parliament House.
The delegation, comprising parliamentarians, industry leaders and policy experts from more than 30 countries, is attending the NXT Conclave 2026 being held in New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, Birla highlighted the importance of strengthening dialogue among democracies and commended Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma for spearheading the NXT Conclave initiative.
Birla said the conclave has brought together parliamentarians, policymakers and thought leaders from across the world to deliberate on contemporary global challenges and emerging opportunities.
Emphasizing India’s democratic heritage, Birla noted that the country, as the world’s largest democracy, is often referred to as the “Mother of Democracy,” reflecting its long tradition of dialogue, consensus and participatory decision-making.
“The parliament of India represents the aspirations and diversity of 1.4 billion citizens, where policies are shaped through debate and dialogue among diverse perspectives,” he said.
Birla also highlighted India’s progress in inclusive development, digital innovation and governance reforms over the past decade.
He said technology-driven governance, direct benefit transfer mechanisms and digital platforms have significantly strengthened transparency and accountability in public administration.
Referring to digital transformation within the legislature, Birla said India is increasingly leveraging emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and transparency in parliamentary processes through initiatives such as Digital Sansad, improved parliamentary research systems and modern information platforms.
Reaffirming the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, Birla said the Indian parliament has recently constituted more than 60 parliamentary friendship groups aimed at strengthening engagement and cooperation with legislatures around the world.
He encouraged greater exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences among parliamentarians to reinforce democratic institutions globally.
Birla expressed confidence that deliberations at the NXT Conclave 2026 would contribute to stronger democratic cooperation, deeper mutual understanding and enhanced partnerships among nations.
The NXT Conclave 2026 is bringing together parliamentarians, policymakers, industry leaders and global thought leaders to deliberate on emerging challenges and opportunities in governance, technology and international cooperation.
