Kishan R, Preemal J Win Titles at ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships
Kishan R of Karnataka clinched the men’s title while Preemal J secured the women’s crown at the ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships, which concluded at Amoeba on Church Street in Bengaluru.
Karnataka bowlers dominate men’s and women’s divisions at Bengaluru tournament
Bengaluru: Kishan R. of Karnataka clinched the men’s title while Preemal J. secured the women’s crown at the ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships, which concluded at Amoeba on Church Street in Bengaluru.
Former national champion Kishan R. won his second national title in the men’s division, defeating Akaash Ashok Kumar in the championship match based on the cumulative pinfall of two games.
Top seed Kishan took an early lead in the first game, scoring 208 against Akaash’s 191, giving him a 17-pin advantage. He maintained the momentum in the second game, registering the highest game of the final with 244 against Akaash’s 238, sealing the title with an overall margin of 23 pins (452–429).
Earlier in the men’s division stepladder round, third seed Akaash Ashok Kumar defeated fourth seed Shanmugananda by 50 pins (358–308) to advance. Akaash then continued his strong run, overcoming second seed Dhruv Sarda with a score of 476–374, winning by 102 pins to reach the final.
In the women’s division, Preemal J. of Karnataka captured her maiden national title, ending a 15-year wait for the state in the category.
Facing top seed Sabina Athica of Tamil Nadu in the championship match, Preemal established an early lead by scoring 188 against Sabina’s 168 in the first game. She maintained her advantage in a closely contested second game to win the title with a 24-pin margin (332–308).
Earlier in the stepladder round, fourth seed Preemal defeated third seed Shabeena Kasmani of Maharashtra 357–338, before edging past second seed Anukriti Bishnoi of Haryana 422–409 to qualify for the final.
Special awards
Anirudhan Sanjeevi of Tamil Nadu and Suchita S Kumar of Kerala were named most promising players of the championship.
Kishan also recorded the most scores above 225 in the men’s division with 11 games and registered the highest six-game block with 1,369 pins.
In the women’s category, Sabina Athica of Tamil Nadu recorded the most scores above 200 with four games and also achieved the highest six-game block with 1,122 pins during the tournament.
The championship featured top bowlers from across the country competing in the stepladder finals format before the eventual title matches.
