IDfy Launches India’s First Deeply Inclusive Video KYC Experience
The launch comes at a time when millions of people with disabilities continue to face barriers while accessing digital onboarding processes.
Mumbai, November 25: IDfy, a leading identity verification technology company, has launched India’s first accessibility-first video KYC solution, aimed at ensuring that people with disabilities are not excluded from digital financial services. The new platform integrates inclusive design features to support users with visual, speech, hearing, motor and cognitive impairments.
The launch comes at a time when millions of people with disabilities continue to face barriers while accessing digital onboarding processes. Traditional video KYC systems often disadvantage users who cannot blink on command, visually impaired customers who cannot locate on-screen buttons, or individuals with motor disabilities who may struggle to hold a phone and documents simultaneously. Nearly half of India’s disabled population is visually impaired, creating significant challenges during digital authentication journeys, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The development follows the Supreme Court’s 2025 ruling directing banks, NBFCs and fintech companies to enable accessibility at every stage of digital finance, from application to verification. IDfy’s upgraded Video KYC platform aims to help institutions meet this mandate and ensure fair access for all users.
The new V-CIP experience includes gesture-based and OTP-based liveness checks, agent-assisted controls such as camera flipping and bounding-box adjustments, and support for document capture for users unable to hold or position documents easily. These features are designed to reduce drop-offs and prevent the unintended exclusion of customers during onboarding.
“Our accessibility-first Video KYC ensures that every Indian, regardless of ability, can complete a dignified, seamless and compliant onboarding journey,” said Ashok Hariharan, CEO and Co-founder of IDfy. “Inclusion is not a feature, it is a responsibility — and accessible banking is a fundamental right.”
Financial institutions are rapidly widening their digital channels, making accessibility essential for both compliance and customer experience. IDfy’s solution is positioned to help banks, fintechs and NBFCs expand their onboarding funnels while fully adhering to the Supreme Court directive.
IDfy currently provides identity verification services to more than 200 companies across banking, fintech, payments, e-commerce and the gig economy. The launch of its accessibility-focused Video KYC stack further strengthens its position as a leading provider of inclusive, future-ready digital verification solutions.
