GNLU Hosts Valedictory Session of Four-Week Induction Programme for Sixth Batch of EPFO Officers

Gandhinagar, December 28: Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), in collaboration with the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS), concluded the four-week Induction Training Programme for the sixth batch of Enforcement Officers/Accounts Officers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) with a valedictory session on December 26.

The programme, organised under the aegis of the ministry of labour and employment, commenced on December 1 and witnessed the participation of 62 newly recruited Enforcement Officers and Accounts Officers. Over the course of 26 days, the officers underwent 81 structured sessions, receiving 121.5 hours of intensive training delivered by 26 resource persons, including senior and experienced EPFO officers.

Wide-ranging legal and administrative exposure

The induction programme covered a broad spectrum of subjects essential for quasi-judicial and administrative functioning. Key areas included criminal law, civil law, constitutional provisions, the Evidence Act, principles of natural justice, labour laws, new labour codes, contract law, interpretation of statutes, cyber laws, POSH Act provisions, procurement management, rajbhasha, professional etiquette, and personal grooming.

Focus on responsibility and service orientation

Addressing the trainees during the concluding sessions, Rizwan Uddin, Regional PF Commissioner-I and Chief Learning Officer, PDUNASS, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of principal employers towards contractual employees. He explained the legal position through landmark judgments, including HSWCL vs RPFC (Calcutta High Court) and FCI vs RPFC (Delhi High Court).

He emphasised the importance of decisive, service-oriented, and customer-centric functioning, urging officers to apply their learning in the national interest while ensuring justice and optimum benefits for stakeholders.

Academic leadership and trainee feedback

Nitin Malik, registrar of GNLU, acknowledged the efforts of course coordinator Hardik Parikh and appreciated the discipline and engagement demonstrated by the trainee officers throughout the programme. Trainees shared their feedback in an open and informal interaction, reflecting on the academic rigour and practical relevance of the sessions.

Hardik Parikh presented a comprehensive report detailing the conduct and outcomes of the 26-day training programme.

Motivation session at NID Gandhinagar

Earlier on the same day, a special interactive session on “Motivation Through Goal Setting” was organised at the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, for postgraduate students. The session focused on themes such as success and failure, challenging goals, discipline, willpower, belief systems, coordination, and consistency.

The session was facilitated by Bhavin Kothari, with Rizwan Uddin expressing appreciation for the active participation of NID scholars and their enthusiasm to translate the session’s objectives into personal and professional goal-setting.

The valedictory programme concluded with a call for continuous learning, deep understanding of law, and collaborative public service, reinforcing the role of EPFO officers as key contributors to India’s social security framework.
