Move targets rising demand from India’s fast-growing spiritual tourism market

Ayodhya: Eco Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of a new hotel property in Ayodhya, marking the company’s strategic entry into India’s rapidly expanding spiritual tourism market.

Ayodhya has emerged as one of the country’s fastest-growing pilgrimage destinations following the development of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Visitor numbers have surged from 57.5 million in 2023 to more than 160 million in 2024, with over 230 million devotees visiting in the first half of 2025 alone, creating strong demand for hospitality infrastructure in the city.

Eco Hotels’ newly completed property aims to cater to the growing influx of pilgrims and cultural travellers. The hotel features 33 rooms, a rooftop restaurant, landscaped lawns and a swimming pool, designed to offer a comfortable stay while maintaining the company’s focus on sustainable hospitality practices.

The property is located about five kilometres from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple with direct highway access, providing convenient connectivity for visitors. The hotel will serve satvik cuisine, including vegetarian meals prepared without onion and garlic, along with gluten-free breakfast options at its restaurant “Sahar — Back to the Roots.”

The company said the new property reflects the rising need for professionally managed hospitality services in emerging pilgrimage destinations. Ayodhya’s tourism growth is also creating economic opportunities for local MSMEs, artisans, transport operators and service providers, strengthening the broader regional economy.

Speaking on the launch, Vinod Kumar Tripathi, Chairman of Eco Hotels & Resorts said Ayodhya has become one of India’s most dynamic tourism markets and the new hotel represents a strategic step in expanding the company’s presence in spiritual and cultural destinations.

Eco Hotels & Resorts operates several hospitality brands including The Eco, The Eco Grand, EcoXpress, The Eco Boutique and EcoValue, and the Ayodhya launch further strengthens its footprint in Uttar Pradesh’s growing tourism economy.
