New Delhi | August 1: In a significant stride toward digital transformation in public service delivery, the Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, has announced the rollout of its next-generation APT application across 353 Post Offices and 61 Branch Post Offices in Delhi, effective August 4, 2025. The initiative marks a key milestone in the government’s ongoing push toward smarter, faster, and more citizen-centric postal operations.

The upgraded IT 2.0 platform is part of a broader mission to modernize India’s postal network through enhanced digital infrastructure. The new APT system promises a superior user interface, faster processing, and streamlined service delivery, aligning with the national vision of Digital India.

Scheduled Downtime for Smooth Transition

To ensure a seamless switchover to the new system, the Department has scheduled a planned downtime on August 2, 2025 (Saturday). On this day, public transactions will not be carried out at the 353 main Post Offices and 61 Branch Offices undergoing the upgrade, as backend processes like data migration, system validation, and configuration will be conducted.

However, to minimize inconvenience, 35 Post Offices in Delhi will remain operational for public transactions on August 2. These include:

Aliganj, Amar Colony, Andrewsganj, C G O Complex, Dargah Sharif, Defence Colony, District Court Complex Saket, East Of Kailash Phase I, East Of Kailash, Gautam Nagar, Golf Links, Gulmohar Park, Hari Nagar Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Jungpura, Kasturba Nagar, Krishna Market, Lodi Road, Lajpat Nagar, Malviya Nagar, MMTC-STC Colony, Nehru Nagar, ND South Ext-II, Panchsheel Enclave, Pragati Vihar, Pratap Market, Pushp Vihar, Sadiq Nagar, Safdarjung Airport, Saket, Sant Nagar, Sarvodaya Enclave, South Malviya Nagar, Sriniwaspuri, and Jeevan Nagar Branch Office.

The Department has urged customers in Delhi to plan their postal visits in advance, keeping in mind the temporary suspension of services at select locations. Officials emphasized that the short disruption is necessary to ensure the successful deployment of the new system and that it reflects their commitment to providing faster and more efficient postal services.

“We deeply regret any inconvenience caused and assure our customers that these steps are part of our long-term commitment to modernizing services and enhancing customer satisfaction,” a Department spokesperson stated.

Toward a Digitally Empowered Postal Network
