New Delhi: Officers of the Indian Administrative Service inducted from the state civil services and attending the 128th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

Addressing the officers, the President said their role is crucial in the nation-building process and that they now shoulder responsibilities extending far beyond district or state priorities. She noted that these expanded responsibilities require a broader perspective that rises above departmental boundaries and dismantles administrative silos.

The President emphasised that collaboration across institutions will enhance coherence in governance and strengthen the machinery of administration. “Your collective professionalism, coordination and commitment are essential to driving development outcomes and upholding the highest standards of public service,” she said.

She underlined that the officers are no longer administrators of a particular region but custodians of governance standards across the country. Every decision, she said, must align with the larger national vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Highlighting the importance of effective policy implementation, the President said IAS officers are expected to fulfil the needs and aspirations of citizens through efficient and responsive governance. She urged them to be guided by their experience and the spirit of “Nation First” as they take on increasingly complex responsibilities.

The President also stressed the importance of inclusive development, stating that India’s transformation into a developed nation will be meaningful only if its benefits reach the most vulnerable and deprived sections. She urged the officers to ensure that no community is left behind due to geographical, social or economic barriers.

Emphasising sustainability and climate resilience as key priorities, she said senior administrators must champion green practices, promote climate-adaptive governance and ensure sustainable development. The collective actions of today, she added, will determine the quality of life of future generations.
