CDSL IPF, BSE IPF Host Mega Investor Awareness Seminar in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: CDSL Investor Protection Fund and BSE Investor Protection Fund, under the aegis of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), jointly hosted a Mega Regional Investor Awareness Seminar (Mega RISA) at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.

The seminar, themed “Shikshit Se Saksham”, brought together over 350 participants, including women entrepreneurs, students and general investors, for a day-long programme focused on financial literacy and investor awareness.

The Mega RISA was conducted in association with key Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) — National Stock Exchange of India, Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India, National Securities Depository Limited, Multi Commodity Exchange of India, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange and Association of Mutual Funds in India.

The initiative aimed to strengthen understanding of the securities market, promote responsible investing practices, and enhance awareness on cyber safety in an increasingly digital market environment.

The event was attended by senior officials and dignitaries including:

  • Vijayant Kumar Verma, Regional Director, SEBI
  • Deepti Agrawal, Chief General Manager, SEBI
  • Shobna Dhiman, Registrar, Punjab Engineering College
  • Eram Rizvi, Cyber Crime Division, Chandigarh Police
  • Sudhish Pillai, Head – CDSL IPF
  • Gaurav Kapoor, Senior Vice President, BSE

The seminar featured presentations by regulators, cyber security specialists and market experts. Interactive stalls by MIIs and a financial quiz added to participant engagement.

Key focus areas included preventive measures against financial cybercrime, financial planning, long-term wealth creation, and awareness initiatives such as #SEBIvsSCAMs and demonstrations of regulatory tools like SEBI CHECK.

Organisers said the strong participation reflected growing interest in financial literacy initiatives across the region. The seminar forms part of nationwide efforts by BSE IPF, CDSL IPF, SEBI and other MIIs to strengthen investor confidence and build a financially aware investor community across India.
