NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is expanding market access for traditional artisans through BHARAT TULIP, an initiative that uses digital platforms, e-commerce channels and other marketing avenues to connect their products with buyers in India and abroad.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) is implementing the programme to improve product visibility and support the livelihoods of artisans from eligible target groups.

Launched on November 5, 2024, BHARAT TULIP — Traditional Artisans’ Upliftment Livelihood Programme — promotes traditional products under a common brand to strengthen recognition and facilitate online sales.

A senior ministry official said NBCFDC was facilitating digital market linkages to help artisans reach a broader customer base. Support includes product promotion, digital marketing, quality assurance, skill development, and assistance with logistics and delivery.

The programme also seeks to facilitate participation in exhibitions, trade fairs and buyer–seller interactions, giving artisans opportunities to showcase their work and build business connections.

Products showcased under BHARAT TULIP include home décor and lifestyle items, handcrafted jewellery, handwoven textiles and fabrics, and traditional leather products.

The initiative aims to address the limited market reach of traditional crafts while supporting entrepreneurship and preserving craft skills.

Artisans, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers can explore the programme and its marketing activities through the official NBCFDC TULIP website.
