Legislative Department adopts wall painting initiative under Special Campaign 5.0
In a unique move to enhance workplace aesthetics and promote sustainability, the department’s corridors and common spaces at Shastri Bhawan have been adorned with thematic wall paintings inspired by the “Waste to Wealth” concept.
New Delhi, October 22: As part of the Special Campaign 5.0 for the disposal of pending matters, the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, has undertaken a series of creative and eco-friendly initiatives that go beyond its core mandate of legislative drafting and vetting.
In a unique move to enhance workplace aesthetics and promote sustainability, the department’s corridors and common spaces at Shastri Bhawan have been adorned with thematic wall paintings inspired by the “Waste to Wealth” concept. The themes include Save the Earth, No Plastic, Recycling, Waste to Art, and Eco-friendly Practices.
The initiative, led under the supervision of RK Pattanayak, Additional Secretary and Nodal Officer, along with Rakhi Biswas, Under Secretary, and other staff members, has transformed office spaces into vibrant expressions of environmental consciousness.
According to Shri Pattanayak, the effort stands out as a best practice under the campaign, combining creative reuse of materials and local artistic talent to inspire both sustainability and institutional pride.
The department’s model demonstrates how government offices can integrate innovation, aesthetics, and awareness into routine operations — offering a replicable framework for other ministries to follow.
