Agilent Expands India Presence with Biopharma Experience Centre in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 29: In a significant boost to India’s biopharmaceutical innovation ecosystem, Agilent Technologies on Tuesday inaugurated its state-of-the-art Biopharma Experience Centre in Hyderabad. The new facility marks a key milestone in Agilent’s long-term investment strategy for India and underscores its commitment to supporting drug discovery and development through advanced laboratory solutions.
The centre was formally inaugurated by Telangana Minister for IT, Electronics, Communications and Industries, Duddila Sridhar Babu, in the presence of Agilent President and CEO Padraig McDonnell, alongside senior leaders from India’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
Designed to support the entire drug development lifecycle, the Biopharma Experience Centre offers hands-on access to cutting-edge tools in chromatography, mass spectrometry, cell analysis, and lab informatics. It aims to accelerate the development of high-quality, life-saving medicines by providing researchers, scientists, and companies with regulatory-ready workflows and advanced training environments that simulate real-world laboratory conditions.
Minister Sridhar Babu called the centre a major boost to Telangana’s life sciences ecosystem, noting, “Hyderabad is already a global life sciences hub, contributing nearly one-third of India’s pharmaceutical production and 40% of bulk drug exports. This new centre reinforces our position as an innovation-driven healthcare capital.”
The centre is also expected to benefit startups, academic institutions, and skilled professionals by offering direct access to international expertise and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. It will specifically address regulatory challenges in areas such as biosimilars, biologics, and precision medicine.
“India is a strategic growth market for Agilent, and Hyderabad sits at the heart of biopharma innovation,” said Agilent CEO Padraig McDonnell. “This facility not only advances our global innovation goals but also supports the ‘Make in India’ initiative by nurturing local talent and enabling scalable, affordable healthcare solutions.”
The launch of the centre is part of Agilent’s broader 3–5-year growth strategy for India, which includes expanding infrastructure, deepening partnerships, and positioning the country as a key global hub for innovation. Earlier this year, the company opened the India Solution Centre in Manesar, further strengthening its presence in one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets globally.
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A), a global leader in analytical and clinical laboratory technologies, reported a revenue of $6.51 billion in FY 2024 and employs around 18,000 people worldwide.
