New Delhi, July 17: In a groundbreaking move set to redefine online education, Masters’ Union, a premier business and technology school based in Gurugram, has announced the launch of the world’s first AI Royalty Model for Educators. The new compensation framework allows faculty members to earn royalties every time their AI-powered avatar delivers a lesson, marking a significant shift in how teaching is valued and scaled in the digital era.

The model supports the institution’s broader mission to democratize business education through the launch of the Masters’ Union AI Institute (MuAI)—a platform offering free, self-paced courses delivered entirely through AI avatars of real professors.

Educators as IP Holders: Royalties, Honorariums, and Recognition
Under the AI Royalty Model, educators will receive a flat fee per unique learner per subject, along with a one-time honorarium for licensing their likeness. A special rewards program will also recognize the most-streamed faculty avatars. The model draws inspiration from creator economies seen on platforms like Spotify and YouTube, treating professors as intellectual property holders, rather than just institutional employees.

Visiting faculty and industry practitioners will also be able to monetize their avatars on the platform.

Manoj Kohli, Chairman of Masters’ Union and former CEO of Bharti Airtel, said:

“The idea that my digital twin can continue to mentor learners long after class is over—and possibly even long after I’ve stopped teaching—is incredibly powerful. This model respects the educator’s role while scaling their impact in a way that has never been done before.”

MuAI: A New Era of Interactive Learning
The MuAI platform, going live this month, will make the entire business curriculum of Masters’ Union freely available to global learners. Unlike conventional MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), which typically involve passive lecture-watching, MuAI enables real-time interactivity through AI avatars trained on hundreds of hours of teaching, mentorship, and case walkthroughs.

These avatars replicate the tone, reasoning, and pedagogy of each professor and are capable of responding to learners’ questions conversationally. Whether it’s clarifying a concept at midnight or revisiting a case study between meetings, learners can engage with these digital twins anytime, anywhere.

Notable faculty whose avatars will feature on the platform include:

-Manoj Kohli, Chairman, Masters’ Union

-Rajat Mathur, Managing Director, Morgan Stanley

-Rajeev Soni, Former Director of Product Management at Gartner

“Living, Thinking” Faculty: Personalised, Accessible, and Scalable
“This is not just uploading lectures online,” said Pratham Mittal, Founder of Masters’ Union.

“We are creating living, thinking versions of our faculty—available on demand. And we’re doing it while respecting their intellectual rights, just like any modern creative economy.”

Mittal added that the future of online education is intelligent, responsive, and deeply personal. By combining high-fidelity content with avatar-led interactivity, MuAI hopes to redefine how MOOCs are delivered and how effective they can be—especially for working professionals, entrepreneurs, and lifelong learners.
