NEW DELHI: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the upgraded Agri Welfare Portal on Monday, bringing information on government schemes, financial assistance and agricultural services onto a common digital platform.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, the portal is intended to reduce the need for farmers to visit government offices or navigate multiple websites for scheme information and applications.

The platform serves as a single-window gateway to initiatives including PM-KISAN, AgriStack and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. It brings together information on ministry schemes, subsidies, eligibility requirements, rules and digital services.

The ministry said online eligibility checks, application facilities and access to Direct Benefit Transfer-linked assistance would improve transparency and reduce dependence on intermediaries.

Designed for rural users, the portal is lightweight and mobile-friendly, with features intended to support access on basic smartphones and in areas with limited internet connectivity. It also provides information on weather, scientific farming practices, seed and fertiliser availability, and agricultural market prices.

Speaking at the launch, Chouhan asked officials to keep information accurate and regularly updated, warning that outdated or incomplete content could undermine public trust. He also called for simple language and processes that small and marginal farmers could understand and use.

A special training campaign will be conducted through Krishi Vigyan Kendras to help farmers use the portal and other digital tools.

The platform is also intended to connect Farmer Producer Organisations, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, scientists, researchers and startups within a common agricultural information ecosystem.

Developed in compliance with the Digital Brand Identity Manual 3.0 and Guidelines for Indian Government Websites 3.0, the portal includes accessibility features such as screen-reader support and simplified navigation for persons with disabilities.
