NEW DELHI: Ferrari has brought its Universo Ferrari exhibition to India for the first time and announced plans to open dealerships in Chennai and Ahmedabad by the end of 2026, expanding its retail presence alongside programmes involving Indian students and designers.

The company announced the initiatives on October 19, following the exhibition’s inauguration over the weekend. Public access runs from October 19 to November 1, with tickets available through District.

Ferrari will partner with KUN Group for the Chennai dealership and Infinity Group for Ahmedabad. The company said the expansion forms part of its approach to developing its Indian market through personalised services, client engagement and a broader dealer network.

Inaugurated by Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, Universo Ferrari brings together the company’s racing, sports car and lifestyle activities. Dedicated sections explore technological innovation, personalisation, historic vehicles and Ferrari’s connections with India.

Vigna said the first Indian edition reflected the company’s intention to build a sustained relationship with the country’s clients and enthusiasts.

The racing section features the Scuderia Ferrari SF-26 Formula 1 car, the 499P endurance racer, the 296 GT3 and the 296 Challenge. A separate display introduces Ferrari Hypersail, its sailing project, examining how engineering and performance expertise can extend beyond road and track.

The sports car displays include the 849 Testarossa Spider, 12Cilindri Spider, Amalfi Spider and F80. Ferrari Luce is presented through a vehicle display and an exhibition exploring its technology, design and craftsmanship. The Daytona SP3 is accompanied by a display of its 840-cv V12 engine.

Historic models include the F50 and 365 GTB4. Also on display is a 612 Scaglietti that participated in the 2008 Magic India Discovery tour, a 13,000-km journey involving more than 50 international journalists.

A central Indian collaboration is the Tailor Made India project, developed with students from the National Institute of Design. Working to a Ferrari brief, students explored the character of ten Indian cities. Ferrari Design subsequently translated their concepts into ten digital vehicle configurations: five 12Cilindri and five Purosangue designs.

The configurations draw inspiration from Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Goa, expressing their identities through colours, materials and patterns. These are digital design creations rather than an announced production series.

Ferrari said around 1,000 students were invited to participate in seminars and exchanges covering leadership, technology, product development, design and entrepreneurship, with opportunities to interact with company leaders and specialists.

A charity auction held during a client dinner offered ten lots to support educational initiatives with Save the Children–Bal Raksha Bharat in India. The company said the proceeds would contribute to school readiness, foundational learning, teaching materials and classroom support for underserved communities. The amount raised was not disclosed.

Ferrari also announced Avelon Luxe as an India-based partner of its Hypercar and Ferrari Challenge Middle East programmes.

Ahead of the exhibition, 25 Ferraris travelled approximately 1,800 km from Mumbai to New Delhi through Vadodara, Udaipur, Jaipur and Agra, bringing together owners and enthusiasts.
