PUNE: Josh Software has launched an AI-based voice banking service to help banks and financial institutions integrate conversational interfaces into their existing digital systems.

In an announcement issued on October 13, the company said the service includes source-code handover, enabling institutions to retain ownership of the resulting intellectual property and customise the implementation.

The offering combines intent recognition with Indian regional-language support, allowing customers to interact with banking services through spoken requests in their preferred language. It is intended to help institutions extend digital services to customers in Tier II and Tier III cities and rural areas.

Co-founder Gautam Rege said banks had access to several voice technology products but faced engineering challenges when connecting them with existing infrastructure. The service aims to simplify that integration, he said.

Rege added that the company’s use of open-source technologies would give institutions greater flexibility to select technologies, customise their systems and reduce dependence on vendors.

According to Josh Software, the service can be deployed within a bank’s technology environment, keeping data handling and security controls within the institution’s systems and supporting compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

The offering builds on the company’s work across core banking, lending, payments, investments and customer-facing applications.

Founded in 2007 by Gautam Rege and Sethupathi Asokan, Josh Software provides engineering and integration services to banks, non-banking financial companies, payment platforms and investment firms.
