PM calls for productive monsoon session, highlights India’s economic resilience and space milestones

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday called for a constructive and productive Monsoon Session of Parliament, urging lawmakers to engage in meaningful debates that advance India’s development agenda while highlighting the country’s recent achievements in space, infrastructure, manufacturing and economic growth.
Addressing the media ahead of the commencement of the session, the Prime Minister drew a parallel between the rainy season and Parliament, saying both become beneficial when they are proactive. He expressed hope that the session would witness substantive discussions that contribute to the nation’s progress and welfare.
Modi said the past month had been marked by several landmark achievements that have strengthened India’s standing globally. Referring to the successful Vikram-1 launch by Hyderabad-based private space company Skyroot Aerospace, he described it as a defining moment for India’s space ecosystem and said the accomplishment reflected the limitless aspirations and capabilities of the country’s youth.
The Prime Minister noted that a team with an average age of just 28 years had opened a new chapter in India’s private space programme, demonstrating how start-ups are carrying the Indian flag beyond the country’s borders. He attributed such achievements to the government’s sustained reform agenda, which has created an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship and risk-taking.
Highlighting recent developments in strategic sectors, Modi referred to the inauguration of a major refinery in Rajasthan, the establishment of the country’s third semiconductor manufacturing facility and the launch of what he described as the world’s longest and most powerful green hydrogen-powered train. He said these milestones reflected the combined efforts of India’s scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and workforce in building a technologically advanced nation.
The Prime Minister also underlined India’s economic resilience amid global uncertainty. Referring to the conflict in West Asia, he said the war had posed significant challenges for an energy-import-dependent country like India by disrupting supplies of petroleum products, fertilisers and chemicals. Despite these pressures, he said, India continued to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy, registering a growth rate of 7.7%, demonstrating the country’s resilience and policy strength.
Calling upon Members of Parliament to rise above political differences, Modi urged both the Treasury and Opposition benches to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament. He said the country’s youth expect constructive debates and timely decisions that keep India’s development momentum intact.
Emphasising the importance of informed and respectful deliberations, the Prime Minister said strong arguments backed by facts and logic are more effective than disruptions. He expressed confidence that the Monsoon Session would witness meaningful discussions and collective efforts to accelerate India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
