NEW DELHI: The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed penalties totalling ₹30 lakh on Dial4Trade and ExportersIndia over online listings facilitating sales of regulated explosive substances.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said on Monday that the action covered seven platforms, which removed listings associated with 3,940 sellers and entries.
Dial4Trade was fined ₹10 lakh. Its appeal was dismissed by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on October 9. ExportersIndia received two ₹10 lakh penalties and has appealed both orders.
Investigations concerning IndiaMART and Justdial have been completed, with proceedings continuing. IndiaMART has challenged the show-cause notices before the Delhi High Court. Justdial’s next hearing is scheduled for October 23.
Cases involving Sigma-Aldrich Chemicals, TradeIndia and Ibuychemikals remain under investigation.
The authority said platforms must disclose sellers’ valid explosives licences and verify buyers’ identities and licensed status. Suspected online explosives sales can be reported through the National Consumer Helpline on 1915.
