NEW DELHI: The Department of Financial Services will launch a nationwide financial inclusion campaign on October 21, covering 2.70 lakh gram panchayats and urban local bodies until December 31.
The Finance Ministry announced the programme on Monday, following a preparatory meeting with senior bank management and State Level Bankers’ Committees.
Banks will conduct camps for enrolment under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana, and for opening Jan Dhan accounts.
Services will include re-KYC for existing savings accounts, pending Central KYC identification, Aadhaar linking for insurance schemes and nomination updates.
Awareness sessions will address digital fraud and unclaimed financial assets through the “Aapki Poonji, Aapka Adhikar” initiative.
Banks will also collect Kisan Credit Card applications from eligible PM-KISAN beneficiaries and facilitate crop-insurance enrolment for KCC accounts ahead of the Rabi season.
State administrations, banks and the department will monitor implementation.
