No Fuel Shortage, Panic Buying Triggers 3x Sales Surge
Marri Amarender Reddy, president, Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association, said fuel sales have risen nearly 2.5 to 3 times the normal levels.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association has clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel, even as panic buying has led to a sharp surge in sales across fuel stations.

The association said false and misleading reports about fuel shortage triggered panic among consumers. This led to a sudden rush at fuel stations.

Sales Surge, Temporary Stock Pressure

Marri Amarender Reddy, president, Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association, said fuel sales have risen nearly 2.5 to 3 times the normal levels.

He said this abnormal demand has caused temporary stock exhaustion at some retail outlets.

However, he clarified that supply chains are functioning normally and adequate fuel stock is available with oil companies.

No Shortage, Supply Normal

The association said there is sufficient availability of fuel with major oil marketing companies, including HPCL, IOCL and BPCL.

It urged citizens not to panic and to rely on official information.

Safety Warning on Fuel Storage

The association issued a strong warning against storing petrol or diesel in cans.

It said this violates PESO safety norms and can lead to serious fire hazards.

Improper storage of fuel can result in accidents and is not an approved practice.

Public Advisory

The association urged citizens to act responsibly:

  • Avoid panic buying
  • Do not store fuel in unauthorised containers
  • Purchase fuel only as per regular needs

Appeal Against Fake News

The association called on the public not to believe or spread rumours about fuel shortages.

It said responsible behaviour is essential to avoid inconvenience and ensure safety.
