IBM Opens India Client Experience Centre in Mumbai, Partners with Maharashtra on Quantum Initiatives

Mumbai, August 14: IBM on Wednesday unveiled its new India Client Experience Centre in Mumbai, a state-of-the-art facility designed to help Indian enterprises leverage artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing. Alongside the launch, the company signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Government of Maharashtra to explore ways to support the state’s quantum initiatives.

The LOI outlines potential collaboration in providing expertise, insights, and skills development to strengthen Maharashtra’s quantum ecosystem. This includes workshops and training programs aimed at building a skilled talent pool in alignment with India’s National Quantum Mission.

Inaugurating the centre, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said emerging technologies such as AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors would be key to building a Viksit Maharashtra and Viksit Bharat. “Through our collaboration with IBM, we will harness quantum innovation to transform lives, while building a skilled talent pool to democratize its benefits,” he said.

Hans Dekkers, General Manager, IBM Asia Pacific, said the new centre underscores IBM’s commitment to advancing India’s journey in AI, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing. Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia, added that engaging with Maharashtra on quantum computing aligns with the vision of a developed India.

Located in IBM’s new Mumbai offices, the India Client Experience Centre will serve as a collaborative hub where IBM experts, clients, and partners co-create solutions tailored to India’s business needs. The facility will showcase immersive experiences across IBM’s portfolio, including the watsonx AI platform, automation, cybersecurity, and consulting-led transformation.

IBM, which operates in more than 175 countries, said its innovations in AI, quantum computing, and industry-specific cloud solutions are backed by a long-standing commitment to trust, transparency, inclusivity, and responsibility.
