Vijayawada, August 4: In a significant push toward digital governance outreach, NTR District Collector Dr G. Lakshmisha has directed MPDOs and Municipal Commissioners to organize awareness rallies on WhatsApp Governance (Manamitra App) in all village and ward secretariats on the 5th of every month.

The announcement was made during the unveiling of a new awareness poster titled “WhatsApp Governance (Manamitra App): Government in the Hands of the People” at the Collectorate’s Pingali Venkaiah Meeting Hall on Monday.

Highlighting the initiative, Dr Lakshmisha said,

“WhatsApp Governance has been launched in our state for the first time in India. Through the Manamitra App, over 530 government services across 26 departments are now directly accessible to citizens via WhatsApp.”

To drive public awareness and promote usage of the Manamitra WhatsApp number (95523 00009), the Collector has mandated monthly rallies at the grassroots level. These will begin Tuesday, August 5, and continue on the 5th of every month. If the 5th happens to fall on a holiday, the rallies should be held the next working day.

The Collector instructed that the following personnel must actively participate in the awareness drives:

  • Village Revenue Officers (VROs)
  • Village Survey Assistants
  • Ward Revenue Secretaries
  • Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries Assistants
  • Ward Health Secretaries and ANMs

MPDOs and Municipal Commissioners have been directed to oversee and report on the organization and impact of these awareness rallies regularly.

The poster launch was attended by G. Jyoti, Special Officer of Village and Ward Secretariats, Nanchara Rao, ANV, and DRDA PD.

The initiative aims to empower citizens digitally by promoting convenient access to government services, reinforcing the administration’s vision of transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric governance.
