MoS Defence Sanjay Seth Reviews Missile Programmes at DRDO’s Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, July 18: Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth conducted a two-day visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad on July 16 and 17, where he reviewed key missile and weapons systems under development by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
During the visit, the minister assessed programmes being pursued by the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Research Centre Imarat (RCI), and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ASL) — together known as DRDO’s Missile Cluster Labs.
At DRDL, he visited critical project sites including the Astra Mk I and Mk II air-to-air missiles, the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM), and the Scramjet Engine development facility. He was briefed by U. Raja Babu, Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems), and GA Srinivasa Murthy, Director of DRDL.
The minister also visited RCI, where Director Anindya Biswas provided updates on indigenous systems under development, including navigation and aviation technologies, onboard computer systems, and imaging infra-red seeker capabilities.
Praising the work of DRDO scientists, the minister said their contribution to building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the development of advanced weapons systems is critical. He urged the scientific community to continue strengthening India’s defence preparedness in light of current and emerging challenges.
