BENGALURU: Data security platform Matters.AI has developed a native API integration with cloud and AI security company Upwind to help security teams identify which cloud exposures could affect sensitive business data.

Announcing the integration on Monday, October 5, Matters.AI said it connects Upwind’s cloud security context with its data discovery, classification and database activity monitoring capabilities, reducing manual correlation across separate systems.

Upwind provides information about running workloads, processes, identities and network paths. Matters.AI adds details about associated data, including its sensitivity, access permissions and activity. The combined view is intended to help teams investigate how an infrastructure exposure relates to the business records potentially at risk.

The integration maps Upwind findings to Matters.AI’s classification of the affected datastore. Posture and configuration findings are ingested on a 24-hour cycle. Where Upwind serves as the authoritative posture source for an account, Matters.AI suppresses its own posture results to reduce duplication.

Security teams can prioritise findings using both cloud context and data sensitivity, while database activity monitoring supplies query-level information for investigations.

Harsh Sahu, co-founder and chief technology officer of Matters.AI, said the integration connects cloud runtime information with sensitive data assets. Alon Saban, head of technology alliances at Upwind Security, said the combined information would help customers assess risk and prioritise their response.

Customers connect their existing Upwind organisation through the API connector, using cloud posture information already collected by Upwind rather than onboarding the same accounts to another posture scanner.

Matters.AI said scanning and classification take place within the customer’s environment, while operational metadata is exchanged through API connections. The integration brings infrastructure findings, data classification and access activity together to support security and compliance reviews.
