MUMBAI/BHUBANESWAR: Nippon Paint India showcased its latest innovations in advanced industrial coating technologies at SMARTCOR 2026 – the 1st International Conference on Materials for Corrosion Resistance and Smart Control, underlining the growing role of high-performance coil coatings in building sustainable, durable and energy-efficient infrastructure.

Held at the CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) in Bhubaneswar, the international conference brought together researchers, scientists, industry leaders and technology innovators to explore advancements in corrosion-resistant materials and smart industrial solutions.

Representing Nippon Paint India, Subash Gaijes Selvaraj, President – Industrial Coatings, delivered a technical presentation titled ‘High-Performance Coil Coating Solutions for Pre-painted Steel’, focusing on how advanced coating technologies are improving corrosion protection, weather resistance, lifecycle performance and sustainability across industrial applications.

The presentation highlighted the company’s global research and development capabilities, extensive exposure testing across diverse climatic conditions and its innovation-driven approach to developing customised coating solutions for modern infrastructure.

It also showcased next-generation fluoropolymer technologies, advanced primer systems, functional coatings and environmentally sustainable products, including low-VOC, lead-free, chromate-free coatings, cool roof technologies and energy-efficient coating systems designed to meet evolving industry requirements.

Speaking at the conference, Selvaraj said industrial coatings have evolved beyond their traditional role of surface protection to become strategic enablers of asset performance, sustainability and long-term lifecycle value. He said Nippon Paint continues to leverage its global innovation expertise and customer-centric approach to develop future-ready coating solutions that support India’s expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.

In addition to the technical presentation, Selvaraj participated in an expert panel discussion titled ‘Rust, Risk and Resolution: Advanced Practices in Industrial Corrosion Management’, where industry leaders discussed emerging technologies, corrosion management strategies and best practices for improving asset protection and extending infrastructure life.

SMARTCOR 2026 served as a global platform for collaboration among academia, research institutions and industry, focusing on corrosion prevention, materials science and sustainable industrial technologies.
