New Delhi: The Government of India has announced the postponement of the First International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) summit, which was scheduled to be held in New Delhi on June 1, 2026.

The summit was planned in conjunction with the Fourth India–Africa Forum Summit (IAFS IV), considering the significant role played by African countries in global big cat conservation and biodiversity protection efforts.

According to an official statement, the decision follows consultations with the Chairperson of the African Union and the African Union Commission regarding the rescheduling of the India-Africa Forum Summit to a later date.

In view of the revised schedule for IAFS IV, the government has decided to postpone the IBCA Summit to ensure wider and more active participation from all range countries, including African nations.

The government said fresh dates for the summit would be announced after consultations with participating countries and stakeholders.

International Big Cat Alliance is aimed at strengthening global cooperation for the conservation of big cat species and promoting ecological sustainability, biodiversity protection and collaborative conservation initiatives among member countries.

India reiterated its commitment to working closely with international partners to advance shared goals related to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
