Hyderabad: Three senior IAS officers from Telangana have been featured in the prestigious list of India’s 100 outstanding and best-performing District Magistrates for 2026, highlighting the state’s growing reputation for administrative innovation and governance excellence.
According to a survey conducted by Fame India in collaboration with Asia Post, IAS officers Harichandana Dasari, C. Narayana Reddy and Mikkilineni Manu Chowdhary were selected among the country’s top district administrators.
The survey reportedly assessed administrative performance across nearly 800 districts in India using parameters such as governance capability, innovation, crisis management, developmental vision and administrative effectiveness.
Harichandana Dasari, who shared her response on LinkedIn after the recognition, described the award as both humbling and meaningful.
“Thrilled for my team and deeply humbled with the award,” she wrote, noting that Telangana appearing three times in a national list of 100 reflects the quality of administrative leadership emerging from the state.
Served as Hyderabad District Collector before her current assignment as Secretary (LET&F Department), Government of Telangana, Harichandana acknowledged the contributions of fellow officers C. Narayana Reddy of Rangareddy district and Mikkilineni Manu Chowdhary of Medchal-Malkajgiri, stating that she had closely witnessed their commitment to district administration.
Harichandana also used the occasion to highlight the role of grassroots participation and teamwork in governance initiatives implemented during her tenure.
“The Pet Park in Gachibowli was a sanitation worker’s idea before it was mine. The She Toilets in Narayanpet were sustained by SHG women long after the inauguration. T-Consult ran because 62 doctors showed up voluntarily,” she said.
Emphasising that recognition should elevate collective administrative standards rather than individual achievements, she said awards should serve as “mirrors, and not destinations.”
“The survey has been running since 2011 and has come to set a moral high ground not just for selected officers but for fellow administrators across the country,” she observed.
Harichandana thanked the government for the opportunity to serve as District Magistrate and expressed gratitude to Fame India and Asia Post for the recognition.
Known for several citizen-centric and innovation-driven governance initiatives, Harichandana Dasari has earned national attention over the years for projects involving sanitation, public infrastructure, digital governance, environmental sustainability and community participation.
Administrative observers say the recognition of three Telangana officers in a national list reflects the increasing prominence of governance-driven leadership and field-level innovation emerging from the state’s administrative ecosystem.
The annual survey by Fame India and Asia Post has been conducted since 2011 and is regarded in governance circles as a benchmark assessment of district-level administrative leadership across India.
