Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday inaugurated 36 Nand Ghar centres in Hyderabad, marking a significant expansion of Vedanta Limited’s flagship social initiative aimed at transforming the anganwadi ecosystem through technology-enabled services.
The rollout strengthens the initiative’s presence in southern India, adding Telangana to its footprint across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, and reinforcing efforts to modernise grassroots service delivery in nutrition, early childhood care, healthcare, and women empowerment.
During his visit to an anganwadi centre in Sanathnagar, the minister reviewed service delivery and interacted with children, mothers, and staff. He emphasised the need to further strengthen grassroots systems to support holistic child development, while distributing school kits and nutritional supplements.
The newly launched centres are expected to benefit nearly 3,000 children and women in the district, providing integrated access to nutrition, early learning, primary healthcare, and livelihood opportunities.
Speaking at the event, CEO, Nand Ghar, Shashi Arora said the initiative aims to build scalable and sustainable models for community development, ensuring that children receive a strong start in life while empowering women with economic opportunities.
The Nand Ghar programme has scaled rapidly, with over 12,700 centres operational across India, reflecting a collaborative model involving government support, community participation, and institutional backing.
With a long-term vision to transform 14 lakh anganwadis, impacting 8 crore children and 2 crore women, the initiative is positioned as a key driver of grassroots social development, focusing on scale, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
