Mumbai: Workday has announced the integration of its Sana Self-Service Agent with Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling employees and managers to access HR and finance services directly within Microsoft 365 applications.
The company said the integration allows users to perform routine tasks such as checking leave balances, viewing payslips, tracking expenses, updating personal information and reviewing company policies using natural language prompts inside Microsoft 365.
According to Workday, the AI-powered Sana platform connects organisational data, policies and business processes within Workday and enables AI agents to complete tasks while maintaining existing approval workflows, governance and compliance controls.
The integration comes as enterprise software companies increasingly push toward AI-driven workplace automation aimed at reducing friction between applications and improving employee productivity.
Joel Hellermark, General Manager of Sana at Workday, said employees should not have to move between multiple systems to obtain simple HR or finance information.
The company said managers will also be able to use the integration for functions such as approving timesheets, initiating performance reviews and reviewing team goals, while finance teams can access expense and travel policy guidance within Microsoft 365.
Microsoft said the partnership aligns with its broader strategy of embedding AI assistants into everyday workplace tools.
Srini Raghavan, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft 365 Ecosystem at Microsoft, said the integration would help employees access HR and finance support within the applications they already use while retaining existing governance and security controls.
Workday stated that all interactions continue to run through its platform, ensuring that organisational permissions, approvals and audit mechanisms remain intact. The company added that underlying Workday data and transactions remain within Workday systems even when accessed through Copilot.
The integration is now generally available for eligible Workday and Microsoft customers.
