Panaji, September 22: The Ministry of Ayush on Monday held a press conference in Panaji to outline preparations for the 10th Ayurveda Day, underscoring the role of Ayurveda in global health, sustainability, and holistic well-being. This year’s celebrations will be hosted by the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, which has been designated as the nodal agency for the national event.

Speaking to the media, AIIA Goa Director Prof. (Vaidya) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati said the theme “Ayurveda for People, Ayurveda for Planet” emphasizes personal health, ecological balance, and sustainable development. “The 10th Ayurveda Day is an opportunity to bring Ayurveda to every individual and reaffirm its role in global healthcare,” he said.

Highlighting infrastructure expansion at AIIA Goa, Prof. Prajapati announced the inauguration of new healthcare facilities including an Integrated Oncology Unit, Central Sterile Supply Department, Linen Processing Unit, and a Blood Bank. He said these additions would further bridge Ayurveda with modern medicine, strengthening patient care and research.

Prof. (Dr) Sujata Kadam, Dean of AIIA Goa, described the upcoming Ayurveda Day as reflecting a decade-long journey of recognition for India’s traditional medicine system. She said Ayurveda continues to act as a bridge “between tradition and science, individuals and society, and humanity and nature.” She noted that AIIA Goa, a 250-bed hospital with 22 daily OPD services serving more than 800 patients—including international visitors—has already emerged as a hub for education, research, and health tourism.

Established in 2022, AIIA Goa has been playing a pivotal role in promoting Medical Value Travel in partnership with the Goa Tourism Department. The institute has rapidly grown into a leading center for integrative medicine and patient care, positioning Goa as a destination for Ayurvedic health tourism.

The press event, attended by senior Ayush officials and representatives of the Goa government, concluded with an interactive session with journalists. The Ministry said this year’s Ayurveda Day, coinciding with the legacy of Lord Dhanvantari, would mark not only a celebration of India’s heritage but also a step toward a more sustainable, health-conscious global future.
