EC Announces Rajya Sabha Elections for 24 Seats Across 10 States on June 18
Former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, Union Ministers George Kurian and Ravneet Singh among members completing tenure
The Commission said the notification for the elections will be issued on June 1, while the last date for filing nominations will be announced as per the election schedule.

New Delhi: Election Commission of India on Friday announced the schedule for biennial elections to 24 Rajya Sabha seats from ten states, with polling scheduled to be held on June 18.
Among the members completing their terms next month are HD Devegowda, George Kurian and Ravneet Singh Bittu.
According to the Election Commission, four Rajya Sabha seats each from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka will fall vacant.
Three seats each from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, two seats from Jharkhand and one seat each from Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are also becoming vacant.
The Commission said the notification for the elections will be issued on June 1, while the last date for filing nominations will be announced as per the election schedule.
Polling and counting of votes will both take place on June 18.
The Election Commission also announced Rajya Sabha by-elections for one seat each in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
The Maharashtra seat fell vacant after Sunetra Ajit Pawar was elected to the state Assembly, while the Tamil Nadu vacancy arose following the election of CV Shanmugam to the Assembly.
The bypolls for both seats will also be conducted on June 18.
