SEBI, NISM and IICA Join Hands to Strengthen Corporate Governance, ESG and Capital Markets
Partnership to focus on ESG reporting, MSME access to capital markets, sustainable finance and regulatory research
The MoU was signed in Mumbai on May 19 in the presence of SEBI chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.

Mumbai: Securities and Exchange Board of India, National Institute of Securities Markets and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the areas of corporate governance, ESG and capital markets.
The partnership aims to promote knowledge exchange, policy support, research, capacity building and institutional cooperation across key areas of financial and corporate regulation.
The MoU was signed in Mumbai on May 19 in the presence of SEBI chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey.
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the collaboration will support the development of training programmes, executive education modules, certification courses and specialised capacity-building initiatives for SEBI officers and officials from other regulatory and financial sector institutions.
During the event, Tuhin Kanta Pandey highlighted the importance of building a performance-driven corporate governance ecosystem to improve transparency, sustainability and investor confidence.
He also underlined the need to strengthen sustainability disclosures, support MSME access to capital markets and encourage evidence-based research in emerging regulatory domains.
The collaboration initiative was conceptualised under the leadership of Director General & CEO, IICA, Gyaneshwar Kumar Singh, who has been associated with several strategic initiatives related to corporate governance, ESG and responsible business conduct, the ministry said.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Sashi Krishnan, Director, NISM.
The agreement was signed by Yogita Jadhav, Registrar of NISM, and Dr Garima Dadhich, Head of the School of Business Environment at IICA.
Under the partnership, the institutions will jointly work on areas including securities markets, sustainability and ESG reporting, Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR), insolvency, investor education, valuation, responsible investing, sustainable finance, board governance and market integrity.
The collaboration will also support policy studies, curriculum development, faculty exchange programmes, research publications and organisation of flagship conferences.
The institutions said the partnership marks a significant step towards creating a well-governed, inclusive and knowledge-driven ecosystem for India’s corporate and capital markets landscape.
