The Warehouse Group Partners with TCS for Strategic IT Transformation

Under the agreement, TCS will bring its expertise in retail technology, data, and AI to streamline TWG’s IT landscape, reduce technical debt, and strengthen governance and service-level performance.
Auckland/Mumbai, September 15: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a strategic partnership with The Warehouse Group (TWG), one of New Zealand’s largest retailers, to lead its next phase of digital and IT transformation. The collaboration will focus on simplifying TWG’s managed services, consolidating platforms, and maximising value from existing technology investments.
Under the agreement, TCS will bring its expertise in retail technology, data, and AI to streamline TWG’s IT landscape, reduce technical debt, and strengthen governance and service-level performance. The partnership will also include workforce development initiatives, with an emphasis on digital and AI upskilling for TWG employees.
TWG Group CEO Mark Stirton said the collaboration builds on recent cost-saving efforts and will enable the retailer to unlock greater value. “This partnership is estimated to reduce costs in licences and managed services by up to $40 million over five years and will help free up our technology teams to focus on what matters most—delivering more value for our customers, communities, and shareholders,” he said.
Girish Ramachandran, President – Growth Markets, TCS, described the agreement as pivotal: “Leveraging our global expertise in retail technology, data, and AI, we are committed to supporting one of New Zealand’s most iconic retail brands in streamlining their systems and enhancing capabilities through AI adoption.”
The deal strengthens TCS’ presence in New Zealand, where it has been a long-term digital transformation partner across industries. The company has also invested in local talent development through STEM programmes like GoIT and GoIT Girls, and was behind the Asia Pacific Digital Sustainability Index launched in 2022.
