Legal Services Clinics Launched Across India Under NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025

Hyderabad, July 26: In a significant national outreach effort to enhance access to justice for India’s defence community, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) formally launched the NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025 on Saturday. The initiative was inaugurated by Justice Surya Kant, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of NALSA.
The programme aims to establish Legal Services Clinics at all State and District Sainik Welfare Boards, providing free and competent legal services to Defence Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, Paramilitary Forces, and their family members across India. These clinics will function as grassroots legal aid centers to resolve a wide range of legal grievances, including issues related to property, service matters, criminal disputes, and welfare entitlements.
Telangana Clinics Inaugurated
In Telangana, the Telangana State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) inaugurated a Legal Services Clinic at the Sainik Welfare Office in Somajiguda, Hyderabad. The inauguration was led by Justice P. Sam Koshy, Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana and Executive Chairman of TSLSA, in the presence of senior officials including S. Ravi Gupta, Special Chief Secretary (Home), S. Sashidhar Reddy, and Col. P. Ramesh Kumar.
Commitment to Grassroots Legal Aid
Justice Koshy emphasized the importance of delivering justice to defence personnel and their families residing in remote areas, noting that soldiers serving on the borders often remain unaware of legal assistance available to their families. These clinics are designed to fill that gap by offering proactive legal support, thereby reducing the stress on families of serving and retired personnel.
S. Ravi Gupta, IPS, reiterated the need for timely redressal of legal issues and stated that these clinics would be immensely useful in addressing the legal needs of around 40,000 to 50,000 ex-servicemen and their families in Telangana alone.
Clinic Operations and Outreach
Under this initiative, each Legal Services Clinic will have one Panel Lawyer and one Para Legal Volunteer who will attend the clinic twice a month (every 1st and 4th Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm) to serve the needy. The programme also includes rigorous awareness campaigns using print, electronic, and social media, to ensure that every eligible family is informed about the services.
A Nationwide Cause
The nationwide implementation reflects a pious commitment to provide meaningful legal assistance, not just as a statistical exercise but as a people-first service model. The effort is expected to gradually expand to every district in India, ensuring that no family of a defence personnel or ex-serviceman is left without legal recourse.
The launch event was graced by several dignitaries, including Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court and Patron-in-Chief of TSLSA, and Ch. Panchakshari, Member Secretary of TSLSA, among other senior officials and members of the ex-servicemen community.
