The Election Commission of India (ECI) concluded its two-day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi on Thursday.
New Delhi, October 23: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday concluded its two-day conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM) in New Delhi.
The sessions were presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in the presence of Election Commissioners Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr Vivek Joshi. CEOs from all states and Union Territories attended the conference.
The Commission directed the CEOs to finalise preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in their respective States and UTs. Following detailed presentations by senior ECI officials on the SIR process, queries raised by the CEOs were addressed and clarified.
The Commission also reviewed the progress of previous directives, particularly the mapping of current electors with data from the last SIR in each State and UT.
In addition, the ECI held one-on-one interactions with CEOs of poll-bound states and UTs, including Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal, to assess their preparedness.
This conference follows the earlier SIR preparedness meeting held on September 10, 2025, where all states and UTs presented detailed updates on their electoral rolls, qualifying dates, and elector numbers as per their last completed revision.
