e-NAM Platform Expanded: 9 New Commodities Added to Boost India’s Largest Digital Agri-Trade Platform
With this expansion, e-NAM continues to strengthen its role as a nationwide digital marketplace, connecting farmers, traders, and buyers through a single online platform that ensures transparency and competitiveness.
Total number of tradable commodities rises to 247, enhancing market access and price discovery for farmers
New Delhi, October 9: The Government of India has expanded the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform by adding nine new commodities, taking the total number of tradable agricultural commodities on India’s largest digital agri-trading platform to 247.
The move by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (DA&FW) aims to create a more inclusive, transparent, and competitive trading environment for farmers and traders across the country. The addition of new commodities is expected to further integrate agricultural markets and enable farmers to realize better value for their produce through improved price discovery.
New Commodities Added
The nine newly included commodities are:
Green Tea, Tea, Aswagandha Dry Roots, Mustard Oil, Lavender Oil, Mentha Oil, Virgin Olive Oil, Lavender Dried Flower, and Broken Rice.
With this expansion, e-NAM continues to strengthen its role as a nationwide digital marketplace, connecting farmers, traders, and buyers through a single online platform that ensures transparency and competitiveness.
Standardized Parameters to Ensure Fair Pricing
The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI), responsible for defining tradable parameters for commodities, formulated the specifications for the new additions after extensive consultations with state agencies, traders, and subject experts, and with the approval of Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
These standardized tradable parameters link prices directly to the quality of produce, reducing intermediaries’ influence and empowering farmers to negotiate better prices. The parameters are now accessible on the e-NAM portal (enam.gov.in).
Strengthening India’s Digital Agri-Economy
By increasing the total number of commodities on e-NAM to 247, the government aims to expand market coverage, enhance farmer income opportunities, and foster quality-driven trade. The initiative supports India’s broader vision of leveraging technology to make agriculture more efficient, transparent, and farmer-centric.
Officials said the expansion reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting inclusive digital agriculture and ensuring that farmers benefit from modern tools and transparent market practices.
