Cleanliness and Self-Discipline Key to a Developed India by 2047: Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani

New Delhi, October 31: Union Minister of State for Communications Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani on Friday reviewed the cleanliness initiatives at Sanchar Bhawan under the Special Campaign 5.0, emphasizing that cleanliness and self-discipline are essential components of India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047.
During his visit, Dr Pemmasani inspected various sections of the building, including corridors, work areas, and the Departmental Library, and interacted with officers and staff. He commended the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and improving the workplace environment.
“Cleanliness should be part of our daily routine and not a one-time activity. A clean environment fosters good health, clear thinking, and greater efficiency,” Dr Pemmasani said, urging officers to sustain cleanliness practices beyond campaign periods.
The minister added that Swachhata is not merely a cleanliness initiative but a step toward realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of a clean and developed India by 2047. He highlighted that regular short-duration cleanliness drives create self-awareness among employees and strengthen workplace discipline.

The Special Campaign 5.0, launched on September 15, 2025, concluded today after extensive activities across the DoT and its field units, including Licensed Service Areas (LSAs), Controller of Communication Accounts (CCAs), and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The campaign focused on cleanliness drives, space management, record weeding, and e-waste disposal, leading to visible improvement in office infrastructure and efficiency.
