CEC Gyanesh Kumar Honoured with Distinguished Alumni Award by IIT Kanpur

Kanpur, November 3: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was conferred the Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur during the institute’s 66th Foundation Day celebrations held on Sunday.
The Distinguished Alumni Award, instituted in 1989, is IIT Kanpur’s highest recognition for its alumni, awarded for outstanding achievements and contributions to professional excellence, nation-building, and service to society.
Gyanesh Kumar, who graduated from IIT Kanpur with a B.Tech in Civil Engineering in 1985, was felicitated at a special ceremony on the campus. The institute acknowledged his exemplary contributions to public administration and governance, particularly in upholding democratic values and strengthening India’s electoral processes.
The list of previous recipients of the award includes distinguished personalities across diverse domains such as academia, entrepreneurship, public service, and technology, reflecting IIT Kanpur’s legacy of producing leaders who have made transformative impacts nationally and globally.
